Sarvam Maya (2025) is an Indian Malayalam-language supernatural romantic comedy written and directed by Akhil Sathyan. Produced under Firefly Films, the movie stars Nivin Pauly and Riya Shibu in the lead roles, alongside Preity Mukhundhan, Aju Varghese, and Janardhanan.

The film was released worldwide on 25 December 2025 during the Christmas season. It received critical acclaim for its performances, direction, humour, music, and screenplay, and went on to become one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of the year.

Plot

Prabhendu Namboothiri, an aspiring guitarist and atheist from a traditional Brahmin family in Kerala, returns to his hometown after his visa application is rejected. Struggling to find work, he temporarily assists his cousin in priestly duties and takes part in an exorcism ritual. Soon after, he begins seeing a mysterious young woman visible only to him, whom he nicknames “Delulu.”

As Prabhendu continues chasing his music dreams, Delulu stays by his side, and the two develop a strong emotional bond. She behaves like a normal human, often creating confusion around him, and encourages him to reconnect with his estranged father. During this time, Prabhendu also befriends Saadhya, who helps him move closer to opportunities in the music industry.

Delulu gradually falls in love with Prabhendu, but he hesitates and admits that he has feelings for Saadhya instead. Following a near-fatal road accident, Delulu begins to regain memories of her past and realizes that her real name is Maya Mathew Manjooran. She recalls her life, her family, and a tragic accident that left her brain-dead while travelling to meet the man she loved.

After her memories fully return, Maya shares an emotional moment with Prabhendu before peacefully disappearing. Later, Prabhendu visits Maya’s family and introduces himself as her friend, finally acknowledging her feelings. Inspired by her memories, he moves forward and achieves his dream of becoming a successful musician.

Production

Development

In December 2023, Nivin Pauly announced his collaboration with director Akhil Sathyan for the latter’s second directorial project. Sathyan’s debut film Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum was initially planned with Nivin Pauly in the lead before casting changes. The project was officially confirmed in May 2024, and the title Sarvam Maya was announced in July 2025. The release date poster was unveiled on 20 November 2025, and principal photography was completed in November 2025.

Music

The music and background score of the film were composed by Justin Prabhakaran.

The digital streaming rights were acquired by JioHotstar, and the film began streaming on the platform from 30 January 2026.
