N.T.Rama Rao Jr.

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, widely known as Jr NTR, is an acclaimed Indian film actor, producer and television host who predominantly works in Telugu cinema. Born on 20 May 1983, he stands today among the highest-paid actors in Indian cinema and has consistently featured in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list for several years. Popularly called the “Man of Masses”, Jr NTR has appeared in over 30 feature films, winning numerous prestigious awards including Filmfare Awards South, SIIMA, IIFA, and Nandi Awards.

Career

Early Breakthrough & Rise (1991–2003)

Jr NTR started his journey with a cameo in Brahmarshi Viswamitra (1991) and later impressed as child Rama in Ramayanam (1997), which won a National Award. His lead debut came with Ninnu Choodalani (2001), but it was Student No:1 in the same year that made him a promising young star.

His major breakthrough arrived with Aadi (2002), followed by Simhadri (2003), which became the highest-grossing Telugu film at the time and cemented his stardom. His intense screen presence during this phase earned him the title “Young Tiger”, which continues to follow him.

Ups & Downs, But Big Comeback (2004–2010)

From 2004 to 2010, Jr NTR faced both hits and setbacks. Films like Andhrawala (2004), Naa Alludu (2005), and Narasimhudu (2005) did not perform well, but he delivered notable work in Rakhi (2006).

His career regained momentum with Yamadonga (2007), where he physically transformed himself and delivered a powerful performance. He continued this momentum with Adhurs (2010), which became a major success due to his iconic comic timing, and then Brindavanam (2010), a clean family entertainer that became a commercial hit.

Setbacks, Reinvention & Strong Phase (2011–2021)

This phase saw both experimentation and reinvention. While films like Shakthi (2011) and Rabhasa (2014) underperformed, he bounced back strongly with:

• Temper (2015) – A turning point performance that earned critical acclaim.
• Nannaku Prematho (2016) – Stylish, emotional and widely appreciated.
• Janatha Garage (2016) – Registered record-breaking openings and became a top grosser of the year.
• Jai Lava Kusa (2017) – Showcasing triple roles with strong performance.
• Aravinda Sametha (2018) – Another successful film praised for his dialect and intensity.

By the end of this phase, Jr NTR had completely reinvented himself, earning strong critical and box office credibility.

RRR Era & Global Stardom (2022–Present)

In 2022, Jr NTR delivered one of the most defining performances of his career as Komaram Bheem in RRR. The film achieved massive worldwide success, won major international awards, and elevated Jr NTR to global recognition.

Television Career

Jr NTR made his television debut as the host of Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1, which aired on Star Maa. The show turned out to be a massive success and delivered record-breaking ratings, helping the channel reach the number one spot. The first season began airing on 15 July 2017 and his hosting received widespread appreciation for its energy and natural style.

Jr NTR has also appeared as a guest on several Telugu shows, including the game show Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu and the dance shows Dhee 2 and Dhee 10.

In 2021, he returned to television as the host of Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu, marking his second major stint on the small screen
